Marching Band

The award-winning Marching Hiltoppers perform at all home football games, area parades, and regional festivals. The 2024 Halftime show is 'The Music of The Beatles' and will feature Eleanor Rigby, Yesterday, Blackbird, Hey Jude, and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. 

Concert Band

The concert band annually presents three concerts; the Winter concert in December, MIOSM (Music in our Schools Month) Concert in March,  and the Spring concert in May.  The concert band also supplies music for the high school commencement ceremony.

Pep Band

The HHS pep band provides entertainment at several home basketball games and pep assemblies.

Other Opportunities

1. The Illinois Music Educator's Association All-District and All-State festivals, where student participation is by audition only.

2. The annual solo and ensemble contest is in the late fall and is attended by select student performers.

3. The All-Area Honor Band Festival, comprised of students from Hillsboro, Litchfield, Pana, Panhandle, Ramsey, Morrisonville, Central A&M, Nokomis, and Rochester high schools.  Student participation is based on band director nomination.

4. Select students also work with hired professional musicians as part of the Pit Orchestra during the annual Spring Operetta.
