Child Care Teaching/Internship
Open to Grades: 11 & 12
Prerequisites: Completion of Child Development class recommended. Application and/or interview required for enrollment.

Course Description
The Child Care/Teaching Internship is a two-hour course designed for students interested in careers in childcare, early childhood education, or related fields. The program provides both classroom instruction and hands-on experience to develop job-related skills and competencies.
Students will gain practical experience through laboratory opportunities at school-based or extended campus facilities, assisting with children and participating in program development activities. Classroom instruction covers child development principles, safety, and health, as well as techniques to successfully guide and care for children.
The program includes:

120 classroom hours of instruction.

Up to 480 hours of hands-on experience working with children at a day care facility.

Opportunity to earn the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credentials.

Industry-recognized certifications including:

CPR, AED, First Aid (Infant, Child, and Adult)

DCFS Mandated Reporter

SIDS & SBS
-
Early Childhood Education (ECE) Level I
